If you want to combine local art and culinary experience, this is a not-to-be-missed tour.
A winery located just a few kilometers far from Pompeii is the perfect stop during a day tour including the ruins of Pompeii and the crater on the top of Mount Vesuvius.
Pompeii, colony of the Roman Empire, is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. Destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, it was completely submerged by ash and little rocks, which helped to preserve the town almost intact over the centuries. Take your time to go around and to breathe the spirit of the past, catching the priceless historical and cultural value of the site. In your tour, the encounter with the houses still decorated with frescoes, the theaters, the Forum, the markets and the temples will amaze you.
Mount Vesuvius is an active volcano of Europe: if the Bay of Naples is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, it is also due to the spectacular nature of this volcano, whose most famous eruption is certainly the one that buried Pompeii and Herculaneum. Hike to the summit of the Mountain and peer into the crater: in your way to the edge, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to enjoy a stunning view overseeing the Bay of Naples, the island of Capri, the outline of the Amalfi Coast and much more.
During your tour, have a rest in a local winery “Cantine del Vesuvio” and discover the secret of this deep-rooted production in a gorgeous scenery, on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Spend your time by walking through the vineyards and the garden with an expert guide who will introduce you the grape varieties and the local cultivation methods. You will see all the steps of wine production, from the presses, where it begins, to the barrel room, where the wine is aged. You will taste the local products in a terrace overlooking the sea: an appetizer with local products, spaghetti with local tomatoes and a traditional sweet combined with four kinds of wine and a distillate. Special menu for celiacs, vegetarians and vegans are also available upon request.
In this winery is also possible to have cooking classes, which cost 90 euros per person.
Tasting Menu instead is 28 euros per person.
