Tour description

Are you a gourmand in search of local delicacies but you want to combine your tasting experience with a cultural break? Welcome on board, this is the perfect tour for you.

Paestum area is famous all over the world for its Greeks temples and for the production of a prized local specialty, the ‘mozzarella di bufala’ cheese.

We suggest you to start your day visiting a buffalo farm in the local countryside (visit available only in the morning) and to conclude your tour in the shadow of history, strolling in the archaeological site of Paestum.

You will visit the buffalo farm with its avant-garde techniques of milking in order to preserve animal welfare: showers and brushes, music and milking robots are here to allow the animals producing a sweeter and creamier product in a comfortable and non-stressful environment. You will observe the local workers while producing, entirely by hand, this special cheese. You will have a stroll in the Permanent Museum of Rural Life, looking at many tools and equipment of daily use from different periods, and you could bring home a special souvenir from the leather shop, where every product is created in vegetable tanned buffalo leather and inspired by the lines of the rural world. Your experience will be completed with a tasting of a delicious piece of mozzarella cheese.

The enchanting archaeological site of Paestum is a must of any classic tour in Italy. The town was founded by Greek colonists coming from Sybaris, an earlier Greek city of southern Italy. Nowadays most of the ancient town is buried under the unexcavated land. The ancient city walls, built with huge stone blocks, surround the area. Just in the middle, three Greek temples stand, offering one of the best-preserved collection in Europe.
